This brand development was a pleasure, not only because Submaterial had a great idea of who they were but they also trusted us to communicate their strongly-held values within a new identity, to their architect & designer customers. The new mark reinforces their layered, modular design approach and also their flexibility in using renewable materials. They are truly design-driven craftspeople. Inspired by their Albuquerque, NM location, we related the local chili peppers and terrain with their passion for design and the art of making products by hand. We styled their imagery and created "mark" patterns to fill out the brand's visual language and to express their design aesthetic.
